Chinese proverb

"An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place or circumstances. The thread may stretch or tangle but will never break."

Christmas Eve and Day

Christmas Eve
Our Christmas Eve started off with a visit to the vet for Blitz's first check up.  Maura carried him around proudly in her little basket.  Blitz was a superstar!  He got lots of love and attention and had his first pics posted on social media...the Vet's Facebook Page:

 Christmas Eve night...
We celebrated at Grandma and Grandpa's house like usual.
Dinner and then presents!

Before we left all the little girls got into their infamous Christmas PJs
that we have been breaking in for weeks...

Back home and ready for bed with the new crocheted pillow pets grandma made for them...

 Christmas morning
Santa came!!

Our traditional Christmas morning picture at the top of the steps...

3 of these kiddos were very anxious to go downstairs and get started,
one kiddo wasn't so thrilled with the early wake up call by siblings.

There's a smile...now she's perking up!

After presents and breakfast we got ready for church.

Someone is getting very comfortable around the puppy...

After church we had family over for lunch.
On Christmas Day I love putting food in crockpots and sitting around all afternoon snacking and spending time with loved ones.
And of course we had yummy desserts and treats to celebrate daddy's birthday.

An early Christmas gift

Today Sean and I both had off work,
so while the kids were at school we went on a little adventure
to get them something they have been wanting for quite a while.

We were home before they started getting home from school
so we surprised each of them one at a time.

Riley was the first one home...

Then Aidan...

And Maura...
{yes, there's those jammies again...it was pajama day at school!}

And finally Audra...
But her reaction wasn't quite the same as the other kids'
{which is exactly what we were expecting}

Can you guess???

There were some pretty happy kids in our house this afternoon.

We've been looking at puppies for a few weeks
and this little guy stole Sean's heart and his mind was made up

Of course the breeder said he had stolen everyone's hearts
and she had a lot of people interested in him.
Luckily he was still available when Sean and I were ready to go pick up a puppy!
The breeder had lots of Boston Terrier pups but he was the only one with brindle coloring which Sean really liked.

The 3rd weekend of December

North Pole Express
I've often wanted to but I never have taken my kids to the
North Pole Express train ride near our house.
So I really wanted to take Maura before she outgrows the magic of Christmas and Santa.
My sister and I took our bigger girls and our mom.
I didn't bring Audra because I figured being stuck on a train with a jolly ole' man she fears wouldn't be fun for her or anyone else on the train!

Maura and Tatum waiting to board the train...

I knew we would get good use out of those matching jammies!
{Cousin love}

It was so much fun to have grandma with us!

That moment when you first glimpse Santa is magical for everyone!

Santa spent time talking with each family/group.
And besides the usual...
"have you been a good girl"
and
"what do you want for Christmas"
he talked to the kids about the magic of Christmas and what it means to believe.
Loved this !!

Christmas Lights
Every year we pile in the car with hot chocolate and popcorn and drive around local neighborhoods to look at Christmas lights.
And we have learned which houses put on the best displays.
This house has their lights set up to music you can turn to on the radio.
Cars line up on both sides of their street to watch the show every night.
Their poor neighbors!

And this house just went all out with lights, no music,
but they had Santa and his reindeer on the roof,
a nativity scene, and tons of inflateables

Elfie
It's been three weeks since his arrival and Elfie is still keeping us entertained.
He's not too naughty, which I like,
but Maura wouldn't mind seeing more shenanigans from him!

Sometimes he even brings little presents
like this Playmobil Santa sleigh
