Chinese proverb

"An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place or circumstances. The thread may stretch or tangle but will never break."

1 month

One month ago today, on April 8th, Audra came into our lives forever.

Today, May 8th, is our 1 month "Familyversary".

We were only home for 5 short days before Audra became sick.  Today is day #12 of her having very high fevers (to the 104's).  And those 12 days have mostly been spent at doctor visits, in the ER, and and in the hospital being tested, poked and prodded.

Two days ago (exactly 4 weeks to the day we met Audra) she was admitted to CHOP.  Her blood work showed the "infection" was worsening...her levels were quite concerning.  Her high fevers were not subsiding...they needed to find out what was causing all this.

Yesterday, thankfully, the doctors at CHOP were able to rule out some very scary diagnoses...Leukemia, Kawasaki disease.  She had a battery of tests which all came back normal...another ECHO of her heart (her 2nd in just 6 days), an abdominal ultrasound, urine/stool/respiratory samples and countless vials of blood drawn.  But still we are no closer to knowing what is making her feel so terrible.

Today they have continued to rule out some even less common but equally as scary diagnoses.  We are so very thankful!  However, we STILL do not have a diagnosis.   Hoping tomorrow brings us some answers so we can start helping her feel better

Mostly my heart is so relieved that she got sick once we were home with her...
Not while we were in China with limited access to medical care...
And worse yet...not before we got to her...since she would likely have had to endure this mostly alone.  Can't even imagine!
Wishing she was at home!

ECHO #2...she's getting good at this, didn't even need a lollipop to lay still!

A Mickey Mouse mask to keep the germs away from her delicate immune system

Lots of resting...

In between fevers...not feeling too bad!

  1. So hope that the doctors find what is wrong with Audra and that she gets well really soon. Hugs from all of us in Minnesota.
